Stefano di Giovanni Sassetta

The Blessed Ranieri Rasini Freeing Poor People from Prison in Florence, 1437–1444

"Look for his charming, uninhibited qualities -the kind that children
show when making a picture: a delight in storytelling; lots of physicalactivity; spaces and perspective that don't quite work;
sudden attention to unexplained detail; unsophisticated, decorative
colors.

Note the bright little eyes with prominent whites and, sometimes,
faces with wide-eyed expressions; prissy, bow-shaped lips; and
curious hard- shaped ears; also observe stylized crow's - feet on older male faces."
Robert Cumming on Sassetta work.
