Still Water
"Is this a gelatinous moment? - The color of water changes constantly. Half of it is the sky. - I won't talk about how water is a mirror. - It will be cold. - Two little girls, sisters, tied themselves together and jumped in the river. - It's like being dismembered. When you wade into this dark fluid, you disappear. - Which river did Neil Young shoot his baby down by? - Only briefly you can enter this darkness."
Roni Horn - Still Water (Thames River) 1999 - currently @ Whitney

...
" Publicity speaks in the future tense and yet the achievement of this future is endlessly deferred. How then does publicity remain credible? It remains credible because the truthfulness of publicity is judged, not by the real fulfillment of its promises but by the relevance of its fantasies. Its essential application is not to reality but to day dream." John Berger - Ways of Seeing

Paris is Getting Taller
High-rise buildings are banned by local law within the boundaries of the city of Paris itself. But, by 2012, a futuristic and eco-friendly tower, Le Phare is to be constructed in the business district of La Défense. Le Phare is part of a plan to revive La Défense, an area of modest office buildings, built between 1958 and 1989. The architect Thom Mayne is the name behind the project.

Madeleine Vionnete at Les Arts Decoratifs
Madeleine Vionnete donated over 100 of her designs to the Les Arts Decoratifs Institute in 1952 before her death. The dresses are now being restored at the Institute for an exhibition in Paris. The challenge is not only to turn back time but to make sure the garment's weight is evenly supported. The curator of the exhibition, Pamela Golbin explained "The new linings are attached in such a way that, if a piece cracks, it's the new bit that gives and not the original fabric."
